France is widely recognised as one of the most prestigious and influential wine-producing countries in the world. Its rich viticultural heritage, diverse terroir, and extensive range of grape varieties contribute to the unparalleled quality and diversity of French wines.

Vallet Frères Meursault, AOP Meursault

Burgundy is the pinnacle of French excellence and prestige, producing some of the world’s greatest wines with the village of Meursault nestled between the villages of Volnay and Puligny-Montrachet in Cote d’Or region.

Producers of this exquisite wine, Vallet Frères keep their vines at low density and use extremely strict pruning practices (7 buds to a cane) to maintain low yields. Traditional methods are also adopted in the vineyards; over the last 50 years, only manure has been used on limestone soil, with only hand harvesting to select the best grapes. One of an increasingly small number of producers in the Côte d’Or who continues to use ultra-traditional winemaking techniques.

Grapes are selected from vines at least 20 years old, then pressed gently and fermented in open wooden casks using only natural yeasts and no temperature control. It’s then left on the lees for an extended period and aged in French Oak barrels for a minimum of 6 months.

You can expect gentle mineral aromas with some subtle incense and spice. The palate is layered and elegant, with citrus and plush acidity. The oak is also subtle and gently toasty, all complemented by a long finish.
