Bressia ‘Profundo’, Mendoza

Bressia ‘Profundo’, meaning “profound,” was chosen by the wise and legendary Argentinian winemaker, Walter Bressia, to represent his vision of going beyond single varietal expressions. With passion and precision, he crafted a wine that reflects the terroir of Agrelo and the Uco Valley in a truly special way.

This blend showcases 50% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and 10% Syrah. Grown in a vineyard situated 3,120 feet above sea level, the grapes benefit from meticulous canopy management, including precise shoot, leaf, and cluster fruit removal. After careful manual harvesting, fermentation occurs at temperatures between 25-27°C. Following this, the wine matures for 10 months in French and American oak barrels. While enjoyable now, it possesses the potential to age gracefully for over 5 years.

Get ready to be wowed by the finely grained nose of new French oak, adding a touch of toasty goodness to the mix of focused red berries. As you take a sip, brace yourself for the real energy that comes from the tightly woven wood structure, perfectly complementing the delightful flavours of summer pudding, creamy creme fraiche, and a subtle hint of dark spice. This wine is the winemaker’s way of saying, “Hey, check out my best stuff!” It’s a seriously engaging expression that will leave you wanting more.

Featured Producer

Bodgea Bressia

Nestled in a remote corner of Mendoza, venture down a dusty track, and you’ll uncover something extraordinary. Meet Walter Bressia (image featured above), an experienced winemaker who has spent years honing his craft for others. Alongside his daughters and son, Walter Jr., he has cultivated deep relationships with local growers, resulting in an eclectic portfolio from six distinct sites that truly showcase the region’s finest offerings.

The Bressia family’s wines are not only intensely personal but also possess an air of secrecy about their origins. While the vineyards themselves are a sight to behold, with their beautifully tended, weathered vines, it is the alchemy that takes place back at the bodega that truly sets these wines apart. Walter’s knack for uncovering hidden gems is transformed into wines of profound depth and character, a testament to his family’s artistry.

Though their production may not be massive, it is the unwavering commitment to quality and the unique personality found in each bottle that defines their winemaking approach. With the Bressia family at the helm, their daughters playing a vital role alongside Walter and Walter Jr., they have crafted a collection of wines that leave a lasting impression. It is their dedication, skill, and artistic vision that make every sip an experience to savour.
